Plexr Cat Scratch

The Plexr Plus Cat Scratch is a semi ablative skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatment approach that works well with maximum results and minimum downtime.  Semi Ablative Plexr is an In-Motion treatment, and instead of holding the hand piece about 1mm on top of the skin, the needle moves on the skin while lightly touching the skin. Therefore, you make lines that look like a scratch from a cat, hence the name.  These lines are repeated every 2 to 5mm, and to improve the efficacy, we add vertical lines to the initial lines and make a hashtag/cross hatch pattern all over the skin.  This is a very effective non-invasive semi ablative lifting & tightening treatment

Services: As noted above, a hashtag/cross hatch pattern is created over the skin and once complete, a serum is applied to the treated area.

Uses for Plexr Cat Scratch:

  • Non-surgical lift

  • Wrinkle reduction and skin tightening (face, neck, sides of face)

  • Lines around the mouth (perioral or smoker’s lines)

  • Skin discolouration and pigmentation issues

  • Skin texture

Procedure Time: 45-60 minutes

Downtime: Minimal

Post-Treatment Care Instructions

This modality aims to minimize the after-procedure complications/downtime and quickly restore the skin to its normal condition after the complete resurfacing process.  The skin will turn red during the Plexr Cat Scratch treatment and may have some scabbing; both will dissipate during the healing process.

  • Cleansing: 24 hours post-treatment, use a gentle gel cleanser to clean the skin and repeat this twice a day for a few days.  Lightly pat the skin to dry.

  • Moisturizing & Nourishing the Skin:  It is very critical to hydrate and nourish the skin after treatment.  Apply serums and balms over clean, dry skin and massage it to get absorbed.  Apply SPF every 2 to 3 hours.

  • Inform your clinician of all medications, supplements, and active skincare.

  • Notify your technician if you take antibiotics, blood thinners, Accutane, or have a history of cold sores.

  • Avoid any kind of tanning (spray tanning, sun tanning and tanning beds) for 4 weeks prior to your treatment.

  • For pigmentation-prone skin (Fitzpatrick Skin Type IV–VI), begin special prep 3 weeks prior.

  • Areas to be treated should be free from recent skin resurfacing treatments, toxins, fillers, retinols, active ingredients, and/or chemical peels for at least 7–14 days prior to your appointment, unless otherwise discussed with your technician.

  • Daily sunscreen with SPF 40 or higher must be applied every day for at least 30 days before treatment. Apply sunscreen first thing in the morning and reapply in the afternoon as needed.

  • Lastly, you may feel like social distancing following your treatment (esp. after a non-surgical blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift) so you may want to run errands and buy groceries prior to your treatment.

Pre-Treatment Preparations

  • The Plexr device creates tiny “carbon dust” scabs that fall off naturally within 6–10 days. Do not rub or pick the treated area(s)

  • Do not cleanse the treated area(s) for 96 hours, this includes water and steam. Keep the area dry.

  • On the evening of your treatment day, reapply the Aquafora before bed; ensure you are sleeping on clean pillowcases and bedding.

  • Sleep on your back, to ensure pillow and sheets do not stick to treated area.

  • Apply Cytoderma followed by a mineral-based sunscreen.  Re-apply the sunscreen 2-3 times per day, even when inside during the day; indoor lighting (TV, Monitor, Tablets, overhead lighting, etc.) can cause risk of pigmentation on new healing skin.

  • If at any point, the skin feels too dry, apply a thin layer of Aquafora.

  • Continue to drink a minimum of 2 cups of electrolytes per day for 3 days post-treatment.

  • Do not shave or apply make-up until the treated area has completely peeled.

  • After 96 hours, cleanse face, morning and night, with a mild gentle cleanser, using the pat and splash method.

  • Continue this process until the treated area has peeled.

  • Once the treated area has peeled, it is important to continue applying the mineral based sunscreen 2-3 times per day, even when inside.

 Additional Considerations:

  • Do not apply active products (ie. retinol, Vit C, etc.) for 60 days.

  • No saunas, hot tubs, swimming pools, hot steam showers, or working out for 72 hours if medium energy used during treatment, or 1 week if high energy used

  • Keep pets off the bed during the healing process, if possible

Day of Treatment

  • Avoid caffeinated beverages such as coffee or tea at least 4 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Arrive to your appointment with a clean face and no makeup, false eye-lashes or contact lenses

  • Depending on the treatment, a topical numbing agent may be applied to your treatment area(s) and covered with a thin layer of plastic and/or a hydrating mask

  • You may experience a “burning” or “stinging” sensation in the treated area(s) immediately after treatment and up to 24 hours after treatment. This is the normal sensation of heat exiting the skin

  • You may experience some mild to moderate swelling to the treated area(s). Expect moderate/excessive swelling around the eyes. An antihistamine, such as Benadryl, can help to reduce swelling and expedite the healing process. This can be taken for 2-3 days, or as you deem necessary

  • Do not apply makeup or any creams, serums or ointments following your treatment unless provided or recommended by your museSKNclinic technician, ie. Cytoderma, Aquafora, SPF

  • If you had any areas on your face treated, it is recommended that you sleep on your back, with your head elevated to minimize swelling

  • Most importantly, DO NOT PICK the treated area(s)
